Tonight will see the launch of a scheme to make public over 8,000 research journals around the world. Access To Research will make over 1.5 million academic articles available online in participating public libraries – including research in health, social sciences, biological research and engineering.
As of the launch, the two-year pilot will now be put in place across the UK, following a three month trial. Peer Review Watch will be attending the launch event tonight.
We will be hearing from Richard Mollet from Publishers Association, RT Hon David Willetts MP, the Minister of State for Universities and Science, Janene Cox from the Society of Chief Librarians and Sarah Faulder, CEO of the Publishers Licensing Society.
We’ll be explaining how the scheme will work, who is going to benefit and why it is important.
So, for our live-blogging of the event, watch this space! And don’t forget to follow us on twitter @peerrevwatch or our contributors will be using the hashtag #accesstoresearch
